Still, I cannot find the fingerprint in biometric or other devices in the Device Manager. Yeah, restart is a must. My Windows 10 finger print recognition was working great till early January. The an update came and issues started. I ve updated the drivers, deleted a folder as indicated on another forum. At the end I deleted my complete hard drive and re-installed Windows 10, clean installation.
When the laptop starts, recognizes fingerprint immediatly, open Windows with no one issue and can work. But it is a MESS. MS Windows 10 team must solve this issue, is not drivers, is not laptop, is from Windows last update. Same issue here, but when I select “Instillinger for Logon” danish in the login screen and select to use PIN logon icon and then Fingerprint icon, then it works.
It seems likw the Fingerprint option has lost it’s default logon priority after the update. Exactly Same issue and process. In the meanwhile I m doing the swithching between fingerprint and PIN and then back to fingerprint and then it recognize and unlock the laptop. It is clear a Windows 10 issue. Have you tried installing the Fingerprint Scanner default driver for your model? Let me know if installing that one solves the issue! The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. If the driver is properly installed, its driver should appear under “Biometric devices” tab.
Can you check if it’s like this? If not, probably you can find it elsewhere with a warning mark. Anyhow, try fully uninstalling the driver, restarting your computer and then installing the one I gave you. Try as well reinstalling the Fingerprint Reader software which should have a name like Lenovo Fingerprint Manager. That may do the trick, but always restarting after any procedure it may sound silly, but it’s not!

Before addressing the fingerprint reader not working problem, you might want to check the fingerprint scanner for possible hardware issues.
